Introduction


Installation of iPlus-framework or iPlus-MES

I. Licensce

Read the licensce agreement. If you agree with the terms and conditions of the iPlus license agreement click on I Agree. If you do not agree with the license agreement, click on the button Cancel.

II. Login

Login with your gip account. E-mail and password are same that you used for the registration on the gipSoft-website.

III. Install options

 

  1. Select iPlus-framework version (default is iPlus-MES).
  2. Choose install location (default is "c:\Program Files\gip\iPlus"). We recommend to keep the default directory.
  3. Set a check mark if you want to have an iPlus shortcut on desktop.
  4. Click Install to start the installation or click Cancel to abort the installation.

IV. Installation progress

The iPlus install and update program performs the next tasks:

  • downlaod application
  • unpack application
  • download database
  • unpack database

Please wait while these tasks are beeing finished. Then click Next to continue.

V. Searching for MSSQL server

The iPlus install and update program automatically searches for available Microsoft SQL-Servers.

Prerequisites for automatically searching:

  • SQLBrowser service must be installed,
  • SQLBrowser service must be running (SQLBrowser how to).

VI.Database configuration

The iPlus install and update program has a feature for the automatic configuration of the app.config file and the database creation in the SQL-Server. If you want to use this feature you must select or enter the required SQL-Server data.

If you want to configure the app.config file and create the database in the SQL-Server manually perform the following steps:

  1. Locate the database backup script file (*.sql). The Database backup script file is in the iPlus installation directory. If you use the default installation directory, then you find the backup file in "C:\Program Files\gip\iPlus".
  2. Restore the database from backup script file.
  3. Add a user to the database if you have a specific user (this step is not mandatory).
  4. Configure the app.config file -> how to configure app.config.

VII. Database configuration progress

Wait until the iPlus install and update program created the database and configured the App.config file. When the configuration is completed, click Next to continue.

VIII. Finish

You´ve sucessfully installed the application. Click on Finish to exit.


Updating iPlus

I. iPlus install and update program - choose operation

  1. Select the Update operation.
  2. Click on the button Next to continue .

II. Update - check for updates

Updater run action - checking for updates.
When new updates are available, click on the button Next to continue with the update operation.

III. Update - Rollback options

Rollback offers a downgrade option to the previous version.
There are three rollback options:

  • Rollback enabled - automatic database backup (recomended option).
  • Rollback enabled - manual database backup (if you don't backup your database you will lose all your data).
  • Rollback disabled - provides only rollback with initial empty database (this option is not recommended, you will lose all your data)

Select desired rollback option.

Warning : If you select option rollback enabled - manual database backup: backup your database now and save your backup file!

Click Next to continue with the the update operation. 

IV. Update info

The Update info shows the change logs of the new versions. To proceed with the update process click on the button Install updates to update the application. 

V. Update progress

Updater tool performs the next tasks:

  • preparing for update
  • download update
  • unpack update

Wait, while these tasks are beeing finished. Then click on the button StartiPlus to run IPlus in update mode (this step is mandatory).


Rollback to previous application state (version)

Rollback is an operation which returns the application and database to previous state (version).

Rollback application guide: 

Rollback enabled - automatic & manual database backup

Run the Iplus maintenance tool and select the Rollback operation, click on the button Next to continue.

 

  1. Rollback application version - shows the roolback application version (version on which the application will be restored).
  2. Choose the database restore option: automatic restore database via installation and update program or manual database restore.
  3. Choose database backup file path (available if you use automatic database restore option) - SQL-Server must have rights to the location where the backup file located.

Click Next to continue

Rollback database connection - if you use automatic database restore option, please enter the required data.

Rollback progress - please wait until the rollback process is finished.

Warning: If you use manual database restore option, don't forget restore database!

Click on the button Finish to complete rollback process.

Rollback disabled

Rollback to target version with database initial state.

1. Run the Varibatch install and update program
2. Choose rollback operation
3. Choose version for rollback
4. After this step rollback and install operations are same. For details read Installation chapter from topic IV. Installation progress onwards


Follow these steps to unistall iPlus:

  1. Run iPlus install and update program.
  2. Select Uninstall operation.
  3. Click on the button Next to continue.
  4. Check if it is the correct uninstall directory.
  5. Click on the button Uninstall and confirm operation by clicking on Yes.
  6. Delete the database from the SQL-Server.
  7. Delete the iPlus install and update program.
